Alexander Calder

Alexander Calder (1898-1976) was an innovative American sculptor and painter, renowned for inventing the mobile. Educated in engineering and art, Calder made significant contributions to abstract art with his dynamic sculptures, known as "Mobiles," which moved by air currents or touch. He also created large, static sculptures called "Stabiles." His work combined art and engineering, deeply influencing modern kinetic and abstract art.
